GAD - Generalized Anxiety Disorder

With Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), the individual’s worries about everyday problems such as health, finances, family, or work become exaggerated, even when there is little or nothing to trigger those concerns. Individuals suffering with GAD, may for example, experience:

  • Trouble falling or staying asleep
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Feel tense or irritable
  • Become increasingly unsocial
  • Excessive fear, anger or temper tantrums
  • Need to be in control at all times, or
  • Habitually repeated compulsive behavior

It is possible to develop GAD as a child or as an adult. People suffering from GAD may have a variety of physical symptoms such as headache, muscle aches, trembling. All of these things can, and will, begin to take their toll on your family, social and professional life.
